“Launching Legos” – July, 2016+

25 young and excited guests joined us at the “Launching Legos” event this afternoon. Thanks to our partnership with Stamford Toys and your generous donations, we arrived at the Martin Luther King Apartments in Stamford with bags of new and gently used legos.

Building vertical gardens for Cloonan Middle School – June, 2016+

Knowing Growing Team finishing up building the last vertical garden for this school year. It is ready for delivery to Cloonan School for them to plant!

Charity Auction/Italian Center Social Evening – June, 2016+

What a fun night at the Italian Center of Stamford social last night with tennis and great auction items! Thank you to all who supported us! We raised $2775 which will allow us to continue to develop leadership through our youth led service projects! A big thanks to our teens who made the event run smoothly and to Marc Lupinacci! ‪

Launching Legos in Bridgeport – May, 2016+

This year, inspired by his love for legos, Jeff started a new KHK project called ” Launching Legos”. Thanks to your generous donations of gently used legos, this Wednesday was our 2nd lego building event together with kids at the McGivney Community Center in Bridgeport.

Food Packing Event with Pura Vida – May, 2016+

17 KHK members join mobile food packing event packing nutritious meals for hungry children around the world.

Spring Birthday Bash at Inspirica – May, 2016+

20 KHK Ambassadors and 30 resident kids gathered at a super fun Birthday Bash at Inspirica. We celebrated birthdays for every child at the shelter, whose birthday fell within the last 3 months.

Launching Legos – May, 2016+

Launching Legos on Saturday, May 14 led by Ambassador Jordan had 26 guests from Marshall Commons. We had thousands of donated legos of all sizes at 4 tables and it was a morning filled with a lot of fun and learning. All of the guests went home with a bag filled with their legos along with their personal lego creations! The raffle at the end of the event was really exciting for the kids. A big thanks Stamford Toys for the raffle prizes of new legos boxes as well as being our collection point.

Baking Buddies – May, 2016+

Baking Buddies was a huge culinary hit! We made 20 home made pizzas with 16 kids at the Friendship House in Stamford. A big thanks to our partners: Grade A ShopRite, Angela Mia bakery and Fairgate Farm in Stamford!

Handled With Care Dress Boutique set-up – April, 2016+

Set-up of a one of kind event – Handled With Care Dress Boutique 2016! 700+ gorgeous gowns, accessories, make-up and photo-shoot, tips for hair and other surprises – all for free for young girls who might otherwise not be able to afford it all for that special occasion in their lives.

Zumba For A Cause – April, 2016+

Zumba for a Cause with Michele Ayoub to benefit Handled With Care Dress Boutique event. We collected dresses and accessories and had so much fun!

Knowing Growing Project – Spring 2016+

Our Knowing Growing team is busy building vertical gardens on wheels and making a lot of improvements! We will be building more in collaboration with other schools this spring. Details to come soon…

Launching Legos – March, 2016+

Launching Legos was a big success with 10 KHK members working with 20 kids from the center! We collected 5 huge bins of legos for the kids at the McGiveney Community Center to build with at home! “It is a project we will definitely do again” said Jeff, the lead ambassador!

Hearts & Crafts – March, 2016+

14 KHK volunteers helped 30 3rd grade students create ” Happy Jars” at our Hearts and Crafts project at the Boys and Girls Club of Stamford.

St. Luke’s students making “caring cards” – March, 2016+

Thanks to St. Luke’s School Kathy King’s 5th grade class who made 65 caring cards.

“caring Cards” on Fairfield County’s Giving Day – March 10, 2016+

Our KHK Ambassadors were celebrating Fairfield County’s Giving Day by making cards that will go to children in local hospitals for encouragement and support!!

Launching Legos – March, 2016+

Skylar is a KHK ambassador and 2016 Lego Master Builder at LegoLand~ he will be helping underserved kids build at our Launching Legos event on March 24!

Karate Day at the Yerwood Center – February, 2016+

Kids Helping Kids in conjunction with The Dojo of Stamford taught karate to approximately 100 first, second, and third graders at the Yerwood Center in Stamford, CT on February 12, 2016. After a short demonstration, the kids were warmed up and taught some basic karate moves. A lucky few had the opportunity to break wooden boards. All the kids left with a high five and a huge smile on their face!

Gift of Giving event – December, 2015+

We served over 850 kids and their families who went home with gifts for their loved ones. We also deliver hundreds all the homemade cards to a local hospital.

420+ breads donated to local shelter for Thanksgiving – November, 2015+

The Cocoa Committee delivered over 420 breads to people in need shortly before Thanksgiving Day. We gave out hot cups of cocoa and bread samplings while people were waiting in line. We could not have done this without all of you! We are grateful!

Launching Libraries – October, 2015 in Bridgeport CT+

Thousands of gently used and new books were collected during our 5th annual book drive. We launched a “Giving Library” for the children in Bridgeport community.
Books can be expensive and some kids may have trouble getting to their local libraries on a regular basis. We have created this library for local children to pick out books, keep them for good or pass them on – to siblings and friends.

Announcement of 5th Annual Launching Libraries Event – October, 2015+

The month of October is a perfect time to clean out closets and collect gently used baby books, elementary and middle school books to fill the shelves in a new library we are building in Bridgeport. Ask your neighbors, church, temple, sports team and school to help !

Delivering Vertical Garden to Cloonan Middle School – September, 2015+

The Knowing Growing team delivered a vertical garden to the Cloonan Middle School and will begin to build their next one soon!

PepsiCo “Public Speaking Workshop” – September, 2015+

PepsiCo’s Public Speaking workshop had a great turnout yesterday. 54 Ambassadors, new friends and members had a great time learning about Pepsi, their team and most importantly – learning tips and tricks on public speaking, self confidence, importance of body language, voice control and practicing over and over again to succeed.

MarcUS For Change organization was hosting a US Day event at the Mill River Park in Stamford last weekend and Kids Helping Kids had two stations set up in the Kid Zone – Buddy Bracelets and Knowing Growing vertical gardens.

50 Tennis Rackets collected!!! – August, 2015+

Thanks for all the donations to help Stamford Youth Tennis Academy – we have collected over 50 rackets to support their kids this summer and are still collecting. Also collecting tennis balls for the winter program. Drop off at Tennis Club, Italian Center, 1620 Newfield Avenue, Stamford.

“Totally Tennis” project and collections – July, 2015+

“TOTALLY TENNIS” is our new summer project.

We are collecting tennis balls and tennis rackets to give to kids who want to play but don’t have the equipment.

Donations from Stamford Toys – July, 2015+

A big thanks to Stamford Toys for their incredible partnership and donation of 200 new toys to help KHK fill our welcome baskets for all the incoming kids that will live at Inspirica – from homeless to home.

Bears For Humanity at the Stamford Hospital – June, 2015+

We delivered 6 boxes of “Bears For Humanity” to the Treasure Tree toy closet for kids at the Pediatric Cancer Ward of Stamford Hospital.

Food Packing – June, 2015+

35 of us came together on Saturday to help pack food with PuraVida and Feed My Starving Children and packed 114 boxes that will feed 85 kids one meal for an entire year!

Sports Equipment Giveaway – May, 2015+

KHK Monroe Team worked hard collecting cleats, sneakers and sports equipment for several months and on May 29th our Ambassadors hosted an amazing Cleats and Sports Equipment Giveaway in Bridgeport CT community.

Warm Winter Nights – April, 2015+

We collected and distributed 200 pieces of pajamas, warm blankets and robes for children in need. The idea of this project was to bring better sleep and more positive days for kids who might otherwise go to bed in the same clothing that they go through the day in.

KHK Monroe Branch Orientation Meeting – March, 2015+

KHK Monroe Orientation Meeting were excited to welcome 53 people! We already have 14 ambassadors helping us create projects to help kids in Bridgeport!

Zumba For A Cause – March, 2015+

Zumba For A Cause class benefited the upcoming “Handled With Care Dress Boutique” event. We collected so many beautiful dresses.

15 KHK volunteers and over 30 resident kids from Inspirica – Homeless to Home came together for a quarterly Birthday Bash – bowling, tattoos, dancing to our DJ Bucko’s music, limbo, pizza and more…

Baking Buddies at Angela Mia Bakery – February, 2015+

The basis of this project is to provide a baking workshop for kids that will result in a sense of pride and accomplishment through the therapeutic art of baking.

Lexi Kelley, the founder of Kids Helping Kids, received The Charlotte Bacon Act of Kindness Award in Newtown, CT.

Filling the Treasure Tree – January, 2015 (Video)+

KHK helped to fill Stamford Hospital’s Treasure Tree Toy Closet yesterday for kids at the Pediatric Unit!

Gift of Giving – December, 2014+

We helped over 675 children in need to pick out gifts for their family members and friends.

Shelter Receives KHK Pumpkin Bread – November, 2014+

What a day! KHK members went to deliver 401 donated breads along with hundreds of cups of hot chocolate to families in need.

Thanks to you we made over 2,000 loaves and donated over 550 to people in need to brighten their holiday.

Skating with kids from B&G Club – November, 2014+

18 kids took their passion of figure skating and made a day that was memorable for 15 kids from Boys and Girls Club of Stamford.

Sports Day – November, 2014+

This day was an incredible success with 19 KHK volunteers and 31 Boys and Girls Club members to kick off our first Sports Day.

PEPSICO Leadership Training – October, 2014+

Our first Leadership Training boot camp led by 6 Pepsi executives. The 4 hour workshop included fun games, discussion on leadership, resume building, interviewing and more.

Every three months, Kids Helping Kids members get together at the Inspirica to create a very special celebration for resident kids whose birthdays fall in the last three months. Lots of games to play, sweet treats to eat, songs to sing and loads fun.

We sold 2000 loaves and this helped us fund many of our projects for the year!

Launching Libraries – 2013+

This year KHK partnered with The Children’s Fellowship Organization to collect books for all ages.

Nicaragua Trip – August, 2013+

We partnered with Nica Photo for the 4th year. We established an organic garden with the local kids at a local preschool, distributed hundreds of donated shoes to all kids, tutored, built solar ovens, made and distributed 70 toilet seats covers, handed out toothbrushes and toothpaste, introduced solar lighting, shared cultures, danced, played soccer and duck duck goose to name a few. Thanks to our grant from the Westport Rotary Club the solar ovens will be used for disinfecting eating utensils and toothbrushes. The toilet seat covers will greatly improve hygiene and prevent unnecessary illness. Thanks to the Garden Center in Darien for donating hundreds of packets of seeds.

Handled With Care Store – 2013 (Video)+

Teens making a difference for Stamford Community by designing and opening a “Handled with Care” clothing store at the local Yerwood Community Center. Partnering with the larger community and with retail stores to collect donated clothing and shoes to stock this much needed store.

Bread Bake – November, 2012+

$1700 raised to get wigs for kids that do not have the financial means to get one.

Pancake Breakfast – February, 2012+

Over $1000 was raised and will go toward creating a “Feed My Starving Children” event in 2013.
